I’m a senior on the Broome High School Fishing Team (in Spartanburg County). This is my second year on the team. I have always loved the outdoors. Fishing has always been a way for me to compete as I don’t play school sports. Being on the water allows me to relax and be myself.

I love high school competition on the water and making memories with my dad and younger brother. Each year, our ambition is to make State on Lake Murray in March. Last year I had a blast and look forward to it this year. Therefore, I continue to spend a lot of time on the water and figuring out the fish according to weather conditions or water temps.

I am so proud of the Broome High School team and will definitely miss the memories made, friendships made and bond I’ve developed with my fishing coach.

My name is Colton Wells.

I fish for Broome High School. I am in the ninth grade. This is my second year fishing. My parents brought me up hunting and fishing. Being on the water to me is a little piece of heaven. I love how high school fishing is growing and so many others are getting to enjoy God’s beauty. I love the competition and the feel of walking to the scales, showing off what my partner and I have caught for the day.
